Now we’re on the back end of this little holiday break, and as usual it went far too fast. I ate a ton of food. Like, way too much food. I also drank some beer. I’d say way too much beer, but let’s not kid ourselves into thinking such a thing exists.
I also managed to work in some game time. I’d like to say I dove head first into a ton of Wii U, but I also don’t want to lie to you lovely people. Mario has definitely been fun, but I have a nice “shame stack” of games I either haven’t started or haven’t completed. So, Mario took a backseat while I worked in some Halo 4 and Borderlands 2.
I completed the Halo 4 campaign over the break. There were a lot of holes left there if you’re not all up into the deep lore. I’ve read one of the books to completion. I’ve read a lot of the other random stuff in the universe. I listened to the old I Love Bees ARG (If you haven’t listened to those, you should take the time). But, there were still a lot of holes left in the story. I’ve caught up a little. I’ve even looked into which books I need to grab in order to really fill in the holes. But, the game is the main vehicle for the Halo universe. More people put their eyes on that than anything. Why not take the time to tell the complete story, at least as it pertains to Halo 4, right here while you have your biggest audience.
My buddy Chuck and I also took the campaign for a co-op spin on Legendary. We finished it, but hit one little snag. After a small bout with lag (unfortunate rhyme), we decided to drop out and see if we’d have more luck by restarting the session. Each mission gives a few checkpoints where players can start, so we picked the one closest to where we had been and hopped back in. It required us to repeat a little of what we had already done, but we got to shoot a lot of things so we didn’t mind. Until the end of the game… when we didn’t get our fucking achievement. Apparently missions have to be completed start to finish in one session, even if you’ve already done most of it. So, that was stupid. Fortunately it was one of the longest and hardest missions. So, I’m sure it won’t be at all frustrating to redo.
Oh, I’m also really debating on whether or not to pick up PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale. Reviews have been better than our initial perception. Javi played it for a bit with a few friends and said it was fun. I think we could make some entertaining videos with it as well. What do you guys think? Is that something you’d like to see? It would be in the vein of our first MechWarrior Online video… only, you know, with more Kratos.
