I have been campaigning for the Jak trilogy in HD since God of War started this crazy re-release trend. A few years later I find myself writing this post on the release date of that very game. Wish granted.
It seems that the 3D platformer has been all but forgotten this generation (excluding Nintendo of course) in place of the much more popular shooter genre. The Sly Collection gave me a taste of what yesterday’s gaming looks like in high definition, and I wanted more. Uncharted is great but I’ve had my fingers crossed that someday Naughty Dog would take on Jak 4. After reading this it seems all hope is lost. (At least I got a comic out of it.)
On the other hand, Sony found it in them to green light a Sly sequel developed by someone other than Insomniac. If I can’t have a Jak 4 from Naughty Dog, here’s hoping that another developer will step up to the plate and keep the dream alive!
We vote with our dollars and I’ll be doing my part when I pick up The Jak Collection later today.
Initially Javi wanted to have this comic set in a sports environment. The guy watches one sporting event all year and now he’s got some kind of affliction. When he starts wearing shirts carrying that brand, I’ll really start to worry.
I did find it interesting that Naughty Dog had a chance to revitalize a beloved franchise, but then decided it wouldn’t be what the people want. So instead, they made a post-apocalyptic game with what basically equates to zombies. I guess maybe they’re right. For whatever reason, people won’t seem to let that idea go. Hopefully Naughty Dog can bring something original so that it doesn’t just sit on the gigantic pile of movies and games of the same sort.
As for the games I’ve been gaming, I tried the first two mission of the new Iron Brigade DLC tonight. The game is still just as fun as I remember it. Plus it has Mars and a bear. A Martian bear. They introduced some new units, chassis and weapons, but I haven’t really unlocked any of them yet. I’m sure they’re all very impressive.
