I spent some time at my parents’ house recently. I was there to help my dad download Halo: Reach, and to take Modern Warfare 3 off his hands. He likes shooters, and the Call of Duty games have been some of his favorite. He does everything short of play online, mostly because, until today, he didn’t have the ability. While I was downloading Reach, he said he wanted to be able to use the online features a lot of games come with. So, it was time for him to step into the world of Xbox Live. I ran to Best Buy and grabbed him a wireless adapter. I also gave him a 3 month Xbox Live card that I had sitting around. The profile he had been using was simply called “dad”, and he seemed surprised that in the infinite expanse of the internet, somebody else might have already laid claim to that. We eventually settled on a name much less offensive and “internet-y” than what you see here. But, where’s the humor in that?
