Video games come out every week, and I’m going to tell you a thing or two about them. Really, that might be the most I can tell you. I won’t be covering every new release. That seems like a fool’s errand. Besides, I’m way too lazy to make sure I find every game. If I can’t be informative, maybe I can at least be entertaining.
It’s a pretty big week, folks. I made a sword in Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning called “The Burninator.” It burns things, in case you couldn’t connect the dots. I also did a bunch of stealth missions for a band of thieves, but I have zero points in my stealth abilities. So I just ran around burinating the mother fucking countryside. I still stole all the things I was supposed to. I just wasn’t subtle about it. Oh, and some games are coming out this week. I guess we should talk about those. Let’s go!

Journey was a game we all enjoyed. The best part was where you could play with somebody and then they never called you a racial or homosexual slur. That was pretty awesome. Sometimes these people were even
helpful, which is not a thing that happens with the anonymity the internet provides.
There’s really not much else to say about Journey that hasn’t already been said. I think the game was covered pretty thoroughly by every podcast and website known to man. So instead I’m going to bitch about this controller I bought and returned three times. Microsoft, get your hardware game right, for once. A few weeks ago I picked up one of those controllers with the new thumb pad that raises for more four direction precision. The first controller had a faulty A-button. The next two had drift in the thumbsticks right out of the fucking box. Are you kidding me, Microsoft? Really? There are things I really like about this controller, which is why I didn’t return it for a refund outright. But, they sure are doing their best to make it as hard as possible to enjoy the things they make. It shouldn’t be like this, Microsoft.

Ignoring the groan inducing name, I’m genuinely excited for Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale. Smash Brothers with Kratos and Fat Princess. Brilliant. Brilliantly original? No, but when Nintendo’s beloved fighter is the source material, who gives a damn?
We’ve seen only a handful of stages and characters from this game, but that little taste is making my mind crazy. Seriously, I feel like Dylan right after his pre-podcast snortsky of coke.
Simply look at what they showed us: Kratos, Fat Princess, Parappa the Rappa, General Raddoc from Killzone, Sly Cooper and Sweet Tooth. Most importantly, look at Fat Princess. I ask you, what did she do in her PSN debut? Scream for cake and get carried around. Again, similar to Dylan post-snortksy. But they gave her a full move set, and that tells us this game is capable of some interesting character choices.

So what’s on tap this week? We go to space to save… something, I’m sure. We dig giant holes and fight off creepers while simultaneously giving new meaning to the word “bricking” when it comes to your Xbox 360. We’ll take a trip to 1996 and get a little furious with a puzzle game you surely loved years ago. I think at this point we’re also hoping that at least one thing more funny than that “bricking” joke is written between here and the end of this article. Fingers crossed!

New screen shots of the Catapult in
MechWarrior Online are here. The Catapult is not much of a Mech if you’re looking to fight anything one on one. I’m sure there is some pretentious Mech pilot out there who will tell me all of the Catapult’s shining attributes in a brawl. To that person, I say fuck right off. However, the Catapult can find a bit of use in a support roll. It can stand back and lob missiles into the fray and pray something blows up. Hopefully that something doesn’t also kill three of the Catapult’s teammates when it goes nuclear. I just feel like there are plenty alternatives to the Catapult. I often find myself in a Mad Cat Mk II. It can also stand back and lob missiles, but as soon as something closes in it’s ready to fucking dance. Now I can hear pretentious Mech pilot guy telling me how he’ll just hop in his Mauler and chew right through my Mk II’s reflective armor. Well, you know what guy… just like… you know… just… I mean… like… you know…
The screen shots are right this way!

Video games come out every week, and I’ve been wanting to start a column where I talk about those games. So what better week to start than during one full of games I know absolutely nothing about? Seriously, this week is all games I’ve maybe heard the name of in passing, or saw a short video of over six months ago. If I can’t be informative, maybe I can at least be entertaining. I won’t be covering every new release. That seems like a fool’s errand. Besides, I’m way too lazy to make sure I find everything.
